About the authority

In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. I would like, through these brief words, to clarify and explain matters related to the Olympic Complex Authority current state, vision, and aspirations

The Olympic Complex Authority is considered the largest institution hosting various sports and youth activities at the local level, garnering significant attention from authorities in general and the relevant sector in particular. This is reflected in the recent rankings by the African Football Confederation, which designated the Olympic Stadium in Nouakchott as one of the few stadiums qualified to host World Cup qualifiers in the African region.

As the General Administration of the Authority, we strive to provide all sports within the institution. The planning and study of the establishment of the Olympic swimming pool fall within this context, as does the development of basketball, handball, and volleyball courts, and equipping them with the necessary facilities.

Starting from the principle of preserving and developing existing resources and striving to achieve everything that would improve and advance the institution to meet the aspirations and needs of all citizens, regardless of their hobbies and abilities in the sports field.

In the medium term, the general administration aims to make the Olympic Complex a distinguished and leading sports hub for modernity in the region. This goal is within reach given the support and encouragement from the sector and the directives of the government under the enlightened leadership of His Excellency the President of the Republic, who considers sports a priority. His Excellency’s personal attendance at the cup presentation ceremony at the Olympic Complex stadium on July 24th is a testament to his commitment to and encouragement of national sports.

Considering its geographic location and architectural design, the Nouakchott Olympic Complex is deemed the primary sports center in the country. Additionally, it’s crucial to emphasize the need for developing and expanding the hotel facilities to enhance its capacity and service quality.

We aspire to guide this institution towards the esteemed position sought by the sports community at large and the national authorities specifically. The General Administration of the institution is fostering a culture of collaboration, encouraging teamwork, and innovation. We diligently consider and evaluate all ideas and proposals from staff and partners, seek counsel from the institution’s seasoned members, and leverage their experiences to realize ambitious goals that elevate the institution, sports, and youth engagement, while actively avoiding outdated practices like exclusion and marginalization.

In conclusion, I extend my sincere appreciation to the sports community and assure them of our open-door policy. Every idea and suggestion towards our collective advancement will be welcomed and valued.
